University of Cumbria - Fire Alarm and Gas Suppression Servicing

Case Studies

Established in 2007, the University of Cumbria is a culmination of a merger between St Martin’s College, the Cumbria Institute of Arts, and the Cumbrian campuses of the University of Central Lancashire. The University of Cumbria enrolls over 8,000 students studying across 4 campuses: Fusehill Street, Brampton Road, Bowerham Road, Ambleside.

Project services

This contract is comprised of the bi-annual servicing to 75 fire alarm installations across the 60 buildings. The service is fully reflective of BS5939 and works are delivered by a team of competent and qualified Engineers, who are dedicated to the University of Cumbria sites.

The mobilisation of the contract was carried out during February – March of 2020, during the initial stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. Following the national lockdown on the 23rd March 2020, the University of Cumbria shut down all Campus buildings.

To maintain the servicing schedule, we supported the University of Cumbria by carrying out their Planned Preventative Maintenance whilst the buildings were closed to the public. All work was carried out with bespoke covid-secure measures in place at all times. As an essential service, we maintained 100% service continuity for our customers by adapting our operational procedures.

“DFP have been very professional in the administration of our service contract from day one and we very much look forward to working with them.” - Ben Pritchard, Contract Manager
